FlowPlay, the creators of http://www.ourworld.com, has returned this year as alumni after debuting their demo of the virtual world/online entertainment platform last year as one of the TechCrunch 40.

Six months after appearing at TechCrunch, the site launched live in April 2008. Up and running for five short months, that demo has morphed into a online hub for the tween set’s social lives, acting both as a virtual world – with 300,000 regular users and 1.8 million unique visitors – and also a gaming destination that represents a new platform for developers, and an immersive experience for players.

The site currently influences over 50% of users to come back and play again – and when they’re there – they play, for an average of 30 minutes. They offer a range of casual games, from big-name developers partnered with the site. “The casual games industry needs innovation and new business models to keep up with evolving online consumer demands for free content and multidimensional online entertainment,” said John Welch, CEO of PlayFirst (creators of Diner Dash).

ourWorld has become a new facet of the development in online gaming – in just a year since debuting at TechCrunch.

Hope this helps! Are you submitting updates in other forums or publications?

    Best,

    Laura

Simon, you should probably unmerge Ceedo and Loudtalks in your list. I won’t say for Ceedo but Loudtalks is doing good and we’ve recently launched the enterprise version of the product http://loudtalks.com/corporate/
